Gardening failures and successes

Well the poppies I started to grow months ago have, at last, started blooming!! they look even better than I thought they might. Summer here hasn't been the hottest on record but the intermittent rain has meant that we haven't had to water constantly. We have put in lots of new trees and perennials and they have all survived. Unlike the courgettes; they have been ravaged by slugs. I have been leaving the greenhouse open at night in the hope that the hedgehog will go in and scoff the slugs.
