Hedgehog house

Well, summer has now gone and we are preparing for winter. We have at least two hedgehogs who nest in the garden; we've seen them many times through the year on our night-time wildlife camera and various guests have spotted 'the big one' trundling through the garden at dusk

John has just made a cosy house from logs and slates in the bottom garden close to where one nested last year so hopefully it'll move in when the weather cools down.

There's more log-chopping to do also; I know it sounds like quite good fun but, after a couple of hours, aching muscles take over and a nice cup of tea seems more enticing.... it might take us a while to get through the pile!!
