New Hens

  Our chicken Lwcus (lucky in Welsh) had had a bit of a lonely time recently - after 'losing' her friends 9one to a fox and the other to old age), she's been on her own for a couple of months as we couldn't locate any ex-battery chickens locally. She was spending a lot of time with us in the garden but we have now managed to find her some friends - a Speckeldy and a Bluebell. They have both settled in well - after a few days of Lwcus putting them in their place with a well aimed peck every now and then!! They are only 19 weeks old so won't start laying for a few weeks, if at all this year. Soon we'll have our own eggs again (Lwcus is fully retired now and not laying at all) and hopefully have some for our guests too
